The Teacher
Vincent Michaud-Laine, French born, has been cradled since an early age by Scottish music and dances. He learned Scottish Highland Dance from masters from the Western Isles and the Western coast of Scotland.
A scholar with a PhD centered around Gaelic culture, language and music, his historicist interests lead him to go beyond the post-modern competing sphere and interest himself into the historical and regional styles.
This exploration put him in contact with the NZ academy of Highland and National dancing. After discovering a passion for the style, he began lessons with Dunedin New-Zealand teacher Jacqueline Seque who encouraged him to sit Academy examinations towards a full qualification. This has been the beginning of an amazing and joyful journey in acquiring the technique and the style, Vincent is now a Junior Member of the Academy having validated grade 5 and still goes on with taking exams. Vincent teaches in French and English and speaks several other languages in addition to Scots Gaelic.
Location and Contact
We are situated in the Finnish Time-zone (GMT+2)
We offer live lessons in Finland but, owing to the originality of our offer, we also developed an online offer enabling people in Western European zones (*) to benefit from the teaching.
The online lessons exist in two formats: private classes or collective classes (which then require a Term commitment).
We offer special conditions to NZ students who come to study in Europe and would like to continue training in their own style of HD dance. An agreement has then to be discussed with your own regular NZ teacher in full collaboration of whom the training sessions would be organized.
To have more information, know our current tarification, schedule a class or see what online or live class in available for joining for a free trial, please contact us at Teacher email : louhentaika [at] gmail.com.
The administration of enrolments (administrative side) for French nationals residing in France is handled by the Parishire School of Highland Dancing, a pioneer of the style in France.
(*) Should any dancers from an American time zone be particularly interested, please get in touch to see if I can help...
